New York 2021 Primary Elections Liveblog & Livemap

Results Links: NYC BoE | DDHQ | NYT | Rochester Democrat & Chronicle

Welcome to today’s New York Primary Liveblog and Live Map! There’s a livemap of the NYC Mayor Democratic and Republican Primaries on the bottom of the page. It should auto-refresh every minute, but I need to manually input the results. Thus, it may lag the official sites.

I’ve also made a quick (hopefully) self-maintaining experimental map of the Staten Island Borough President and CCD-50 primaries on my website here.

5:00PM Wednesday: I added turnout and R vs D vote maps to the interactive. Click on Menu–>Mayor D–>More–>Turnout for the Dem map; Click on Menu–>Mayor R–?Turnout/R vs D for the other maps.

1:45AM: As we approach 800,000 cast votes in the NYC Democratic mayoral primary, I’m going to call it a night on updating the livemap. I’ll refresh the data (and maybe change the color steps, since Adams exceeded 60% in many places) in the morning. Thanks again for reading and viewing the map!

12:10AM: Results are still trickling in, but nothing much is changing. That’s it for the liveblog for the night. I’ll continue to update the livemap for an hour or so tonight. Thanks for reading!

11:05PM: I’m going to liveblog less now, as it’s clear we’re not going to know the results of the Mayor’s race and some other NYC races until next week, if even. Nothing has really changed much in the major races. I’m still going to update the live map. Upstate, Lovely Warren hasn’t officially lost Rochester mayor yet, but I’m ready to call it for her opponent, and it appears Byron Brown will lose Buffalo mayor as well.

10:52PM: In the Borough Presidents’ races, Levine leads Hoylman by 1 point, 28%-27% in first preferences. Fossella also leads Matteo by 1 point on Staten Island, 42%-41%.
10:45PM: While DDHQ hasn’t given India Walton the checkmark in Buffalo yet, she is up 52%-45% with 98% reporting.
10:30PM: Maya Wiley has quietly slipped into second place in NYC Dem Mayor first preferences. Adams still leads by about 9 points.
10:22PM: Upstate, Lovely Warren has likely lost in Rochester; she’s losing 2-1 with 78/113 reporting. Walton leads incumbent Buffalo Mayor Brown 51-46% with about 80% estimated reporting by DDHQ.
10:20PM: In the other NYC races, Lander leads Johnson for Comptroller in first preferences, 31-24%. Jumaane Williams wins the NYC Public Advocate race with 70%. The Manhattan DA’s race is too close to call – Bragg leads Weinstein 34.7-30.4% in this FPTP contest.
10:15PM: We’re now at 393,000 votes cast in the NYC Democratic primary. No change in the Dem Mayor leaders or margins, really. Sliwa gets the check from DDHQ on the R side.
10:02PM: With 11% in, Sliwa is still up 72%-28% over Mateo on the Republican side of the NYC Mayor’s race. I think we can call this one.

9:55PM: Adams still leads the NYC mayor’s race with about 30%. Garcia is in second with 22%. Wiley is third at 21%. Yang sits in fourth at 12%. Stringer is a distant 5th at 6%, per the DDHQ data.
9:47PM: Assuming my Staten Island map that’s on autopilot is working correctly, Vito Fossella just took the lead in the Staten Island Borough President Republican Primary.
9:42PM: Incumbent Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren is losing big – 30%-70% to Malik Evans, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. Lovely!
9:38PM: Outside NYC, incumbent Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is down 42%-56% to India Walton in very early results.
9:36PM: In other NYC races, Bragg leads Weinstein 37-30%; Public Advocate Williams is only getting 72% against 2 some dudes; Lander leads Johnson 34%-23% for Comptroller.
9:35PM: Adams leads Garcia 29%-24%. On the R side, Sliwa is beating Mateo 72%-28%. That’s pretty much over, barring a surprise.
9:23PM: And we have a precinct map! It’s very colorful!
9:20PM: Adams takes the lead in the NYT count. I had a spreadsheet issue, but the precinct map should be updated shortly. For real this time.
9:10PM: It’s still very early, but the NYT is showing the race tightening – Garcia 30, Adams 22, Wiley 18, Yang 15. We’re starting to get some precinct results on the NYBoE Website as well. Expect the map to color in in a few minutes
9:03PM: The New York Times’ website is showing Garcia up very very early in NYC Mayor (D) with over 40% of the vote.
9:00PM: Polls are now closed in New York.
8:55PM EDT: Polls close in 5 minutes.
